Authentic and awesome. Seasoned and spiced perfectly. Much more than you'd expect from a strip-mall eatery. Pad Thai, tempura veggies, spring rolls - generous servings at economical prices and so very, very delicious. What a pleasant surprise! We went back the very next day after our first visit.

I go here because its the only pho restaurant in the Gresham area, and I live in Fairview. The pho is really good, but its very expensive for this kind of food. The salad rolls are also really good, just over priced. I dont recommend the Thai food at all. Its not very authentic, and its also very over priced. Service is okay, its a clean restaurant. I usually take it to-go. Like I said, I continue to come here because its the closest pho place by me.

I got take out and the staff was very nice and food was made quickly. The Thai salad rolls are great! They are huge and the peanut sauce is wonderful. The pad thai however, is one of the weirdest I've ever had. It definitely has a tomato based sauce. The prices are decent and the portions are great. If you are looking for great, authentic Thai food go elsewhere, but if you want decent food, large portions and decent prices this is the place for you.

The beef and chicken pho are really good. They had very rich and pleasing flavors. It makes you really excited to come for more next time. I also liked the BBQ chicken with steamed rice. The meal was very well balanced and enjoyable. I will certainly come again. The service there is average. You will want to ask for napkins, hot sauces...etc. Over all it is a very good and enjoyable experience.

Things seem to have turned around a bit for Vi Thai since my last review, although spiciness seems to vary depending on who's cooking that day. Broccoli stir fry, bbq pork noodles, fried spring rolls, yummy!

I have been coming here for almost 5 yrs. Almost 4 times a month at times. I there vietnamese salad rolls. Peanut sauce is great. I do know they are under new management. The staff is always friendly. I always get the #14 pho beef noodle soup, I love it. Flavorful & Well amounts of beef. My bf has gotten numerous dishes. Such as the garlic chicken. He did mention...He will not be ordering chicken versions of anything here :( I guess the chicken, not so good. I have no problems with there beef pad thai. It is on the....soupy side but eh I ate it all. The mood overall is mellow and is usually always quiet with a faint sound of music. Love this place.

While I was exploring Mt. Hood area & vicinity. I found Vi Thai in Troutdale! I thought it was good because I was so hungry after been in the snow for hours and driving around. So I went back a few months after, it was still good! Yay!!! If you plan your trip well: go snowboard/ski until you almost drop, then go eat pho here. YOU WILL GO HOME HAPPY. :)

Overall the food is so-so here. Not bad, not great. I had ordered my typical Pad Kee Mao spicy. It wasn't the least bit spicy unfortunately. Only a slight kick. I also had them add in bell peppers since all that was in the noodles was onion. There was lettuce in the mix somehow which was of course soggy. Why would they add lettuce to the bottom of the noodles? Odd. The staff here is friendly. I'd say their curry is a better option. Food is promptly made and service is just fine. Food is A-OK and reasonably priced.

The Basil Fried Rice is better here than anywhere else I've tried. No one else comes close. The Salad Rolls are great too. Service is excellent, the place is clean...love this restaurant!

I really like Vi Thai! The only real down side I see so far is the fact that it's in an unappealing strip mall out in the middle of nowhere between an HR Block and a sketchy looking bar. But of the 3 times I've been there I have no complaints! The servers are all super friendly and the food is delicious. I've ordered the Veggie Delux twice (just your standard veggie stir fry with garlic sauce) and it's so good! great selection of veggies and amazing sauce. Just 6.50 for lunch, and they let me use my own container! Best in Gresham area by far in my mind.

My family and I frequented this place almost monthly for two years when we lived in Gresham a few months ago, between the three of us and the guests we took, we pretty much ordered everything on the menu. We have never had a bad meal there, everything has tasted either good or amazing. I've personally enjoyed three different pho, every one of their curries, and half of their special menu. I have no idea why there would be a bad meal, but every place has their off days. It's unfortunate that people would only come once and decide to rate a place solely on that. Everyone we have taken have been impressed with portion and taste, we have never had anyone say they didn't enjoy their meal. The portions are gigantic, I usually walk away with two more meals and everyone else walks away with half left. Pros: Everything on the menu we ordered has been good Consistent taste Huge portions Cheap price Cons: Service is non existent a lot Unfortunately does not help with packing food, so I have spilled pho all over their table multiple times

Go here pretty often, good service and great food. They have several good dishes but the one that stands out is their peanut curry with chicken. Try this place out, their lunch prices are also cheaper.

It is a wonderful thing to have a place where I can get a great bowl of beel pho near to home. Nice family restaurant, warm hospitality.

  • Ronie A.

The Thai is not flavorful at all. Ordered a pad thai and it tasted like ketchup. It smelled due to all of the cabbage. Also tried the pad si ew, which was also lacking flavor and texture. The Panang curry, which is usually one of my favorites, was just strait up peanut sauce with no vegetables. It was tofu in peanut sauce. Haven't tried the pho here. It could be better. Overall, not impressed with the Thai. The staff is polite and fast, but if the food doesn't meet the standards then it seems like a waste of effort. If you think the Thai food is good here, you haven't been to enough Thai restaurants. Sorry :(

Beef noodle soup isn't the best anymore new manager must've meant new recipe. But the rolls with the peanut sauce are still amazing.

Everything we ordered was really good. Prawn red curry was to die for!!! First time here and it won't be our last. Yay for a good Thai place in Gresham!

I'm completely puzzled by the positive rated reviews, unless there has been a change in ownership this past year? I ordered the panang curry, and it was absolutely awful. So much so that I had to throw it out. The sauce was watery thin, the chicken overcooked and bland, and there was an unrecognizable vegetable that wasn't a part of what I know should be in this dish. I do appreciate high quality authentic food, but sadly haven't found it here.

  • Diego F.

This is the last chance I am giving them. Ever since the new owner changed the recipes, the food has lacked flavor. I have gone back about 5 times and tried different things since the recipes have changed. Never again. It's sad because I really loved their food.

First of all THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD! If you're getting take-out, you should enjoy your meal. Service here, however, is awful. Today was the worst I've seen it. Lazy service during a very slow time of the day... 3:00pm. There were a total of 3 people in the restaurant, but they checked on me once, and by that time I was already finished and just needed a box. I had some soup, so they brought me the containers, and then made me box it up. Haven't seen that before, especially if the restaurant is not busy, and especially with a big bowl of soup! Needless to say, it got all over my paperwork and pants. I don't feel I'm especially uncoordinated, but it was nearly impossible to get that done without spilling. The check finally came to the table, so I placed my card into the little plastic holder. It sat there for several minutes while she stood behind her counter. She never came back for it. So I had to lug all my stuff up to their tiny little counter to pay my bill. Again, you have three customers, and you can't come get my card? I was highly disappointed with the service today, just plain lazy in my opinion. I will not be dining-in here again.

Management has changed within the last 6 months. Unfortunately, this has caused the quality of the food to go down, I haven't been back since. :(

The service was fast and friendly! We ordered take out I had the Drunken noodles which were divine. The sauteed broccoli and BBQ pork were splendid as well, and I know this because I always like tasting peoples food. The three men manning the front were tasty as well. I got food for my eyes and stomach that day and will definitely be going back for more.

Food has definitely improved. Looks like it just took them a little bit to get their recipes straightened out. Now we love going all the time.

Vi Thai has always been a family favorite. Even though we live in Washington when we visit family here we always stop for some good Thai food! I so want to give this 5 stars..... But tonight they were off their game. I am sad.... Because I was so wanting some out if this world Thai!!! Tonight they supplied ample amounts of food and the wait staff was excellent! It was just the food... It was good but it just didn't have the flavor I remembered.... I sad!

Good service, mediocre food. We both got the beef noodle soup. The broth was sub-par and the beef was tough. Super friendly waiter, actually came back to check on us.

Chicken satay was terrible, especially the peanut sauce. Pho is not even average, how do you mess up Pho...? Spring rolls were good, thai ice tea & service was good.

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would! The food was good but the service was TERRIBLE! I have never been treated so rude from the minute we walked in the door. They close at 10pm and we arrived at 9:40. When we stated we wanted to eat in, that's when it all started. Apparently the staff wanted to leave right at closing because they reminded us several times they were closing soon, we never received a welcome or even a smile. The lady sat us down, handed us the menus and literally stood there looking at us while we decided what we wanted. We orded and the food came out in less than 3 minutes which made me nervous. We ate fast and asked for to go boxes. I put out my credit card to pay and she literally grabbed it from my hand and walked away with it - not a word. Beyond passive aggressive and RUDE behavior! I've never been treated so poorly before by an establishment that relies on customers to stay in business and make $. TERRIBLE SERVICE! BE WARNED!

While the food is not great here, it is reasonably priced and still very good. We go here fairly often but only because it's close to our house.

I've been going to this place for years. The beef special pho is great and always done right and the Vietnamese spring rolls in rice paper are the best I've had. DONT SKIP OUT ON THE PEANUT SAUCE!!! It makes the rolls that much better. Good place to know about for a delicious meal any time of the day.

Left much to be desired. The taste does not live up to the price and I wish I could get my money back.

Pretty expensive for simple Vietnamese/Thai food especially since I'm coming from LA where this food is cheap! However, I'm impressed with the quality of the food and *abundance of fresh vegetables and lean meat*. We got the pad see ew which came with large veggies and pieces of chicken. I recommend the Tom Yum - comes with rice and definitely enough for even 3 people. We ordered the vietnamese "salad" rolls which were actually pretty expensive and weren't that special..maybe I just have high expectations.

I may have found a new favorite resturant with wonton noodle soup. I ordered their wonton soup and asked them to add rice noodles .....this dish was delicious. The wontons were perfect size and tasted strong of cilantro which i love. The bowl was large and filled with broccoli, carrots, zucchini, bok choy, cabbage, slices of bbq pork and topped with one shrimp. It had a little bit of everything I wanted and was craving.

The first time I went here I loved it. The food was amazing and the prices were cheap. My second visit I ordered the same thing, but it was completely different and not near as good.

DELICIOUS! The service was excellent, they have a very attentive staff and the food was sooooo good! Try the salad rolls and beef pho!

This is the closest Thai place to my new house and I was in serious need of some curry. I couldn't find a menu online, so I went there to order. I ordered the red curry and pineapple fried rice and asked the waitress what she would recommend on their appetizer list. She didn't really seem to have an opinion, but I finally got an answer out of her. She mentioned two items, one of them being the Thai salad rolls (which I ordered with chicken). The curry and fried rice were okay - not bad, but not really good either. The Thai salad rolls on the other hand were pretty gross. Though the vegetables seemed fresh, the chicken looked and tasted like crappy deli meat - chewy and disgusting. I pulled out the chicken and the salad rolls were deemed somewhat edible again. Long story short - I would not visit here again, no matter how bad I was craving curry.

Yum! Just flew in from Orange County, CA. Pulled off the road looking for lunch and here I am. The food was great! Had lettuce rolls, tofu w/ lemon grass and chicken noodle salad. Everything was fresh. I will stop again on my way back through Portland next week. Just as good as any Resturant in Westminster!

Ordered Won Ton soup and added rice noodles ($1) - very tasty homemade won tons which were seasoned to perfection. Lots of vegetables. Soup was great and they left a good amount of the oil in for flavor. Not too salty like many other soup places. And they have a special homemade chili sauce. Highly recommend this dish! Great place near the airport or on your way east on highway 84

One of the best places to get Thai or Vietnamese in east county. The food is great and is served very quickly

Visiting from out of town, read the Yelp reviews and thought we would give it a try. I ordered the Pad Thai, it was okay, wouldn't order it again. My husband ordered the pineapple rice with chicken and he thought it was good, and would order it again. Service was good and food was delivered quickly.

Hubby and I stopped in for dinner last night excited because of high ratings on another app. Hubby eats pad Thai all over the US. It was not at all what we've eaten. It had a tomato base which we've never seen before in any restaurant. He was disappointed. Everything else was very good. Fried pot stickers. Yellow curry. Service started a little slow but once acknowledged the pace and attention was good. This seems to be a local favorite, but we won't return. The TVs were on in the restaurant. While had no volume they were distracting especially showing CNN for a couple of reasons - war torn images, end hunger ads plus biased reporting. Turn them off please.

Great Thai restaurant. The staff was very friendly and the service was fast. I inquired about the shrimp with mango dish - I wanted to know how the shrimp was prepared. Upon learning that it is deep fried, I asked if I could have it grilled instead...not a problem! They served the shrimp the way I wanted and it was delicious! The mangos had the right amount of sweetness.

The pho has improved 10fold. Great surprise for certain. It's tasty, hot, and reasonable. It rivals any of the place so frequent DT or 82. Good job!!

    (4)
  • Joyce L.

Their service is alright but their pho is BOMB! That is the only reason why I keep coming back. I'm from Cali and no pho from Oregon can ever compare to Cali's but after finding Vi Thai, I have little doubts now. I love the pho here, they don't provide soy sauce and fish sauce, but even without it, the broth still tastes amazing! The thing that I dislike is how they only have one size but I guess I can live with it. Also, their service kinda sucks, it'd be nice if they improved on that. They don't provide sirarcha and all the other sauces needed for pho on the table, you kinda have to ask for it.

  • Elizabeth R.

I was in town for a race nearby and Thai food is my night before tradition. My go to is phad thai, and this was the worst phad thai I've ever had. The sauce tasted like a watered down ketchup and it had no peanuts, bean sprouts, or shredded carrots/cabbage, but rather big chunks of semi raw carrots and broccoli. I'm usually pretty lenient with my noodle dishes and even if it's not what I want, I'll eat it if it tastes good. However, I couldn't even finish it because it was so bad. My friend ordered the pho, and said it was mediocre. On top of it, the service was really slow. I would definitely not go back here.

I was feeling a little under the weather so hubby went out and got us some to go food including a seafood pho type soup. I spiced it up and it kicked what could have been a cold right out of me! The portions of the food here are huge and the prices are not. We also got some pad thai and some fresh shrimp rolls. Their peanut sauce is not the sweet type so I enjoyed it all the more. Plenty of shrimp in the rolls. Pad thai was your norm. I have never been able to tell much difference between pad thais though to be honest. Just know when one tastes good. Not a lot of thai places in this neck of the woods so this one seems good enough.

Love! Love! Love! Salad rolls and special beef noodle soup are a must! Husband and I like to try new items from menu and we highlight what we've tried! All is fabulous! Rice is not our most favorite.

I'm always a little up in the air when it comes to Vietnamese and Thai restaurants being fused into one establishment. I went here this evening cause it was close by the house and I decided what the hell might as well try something new! Arrived here to get some food to go. I ordered the Pannang Curry, Pad Thai, Salad Rolls, Beef Larb, and a Pad Kee Mao. The salad rolls come in a order of 6 for only $7 dollars which seems like a great deal! The Pannang Curry was really good. Excellent culmination of vegetables but there was one thing that I was a little let down by was how thin the curry was. Next on the list was the Pad Thai. It was pretty standard and didn't really stand out for me. The Pad Kee Mao was a complete let down. Why would you use Chow Fun Noodles for Pad Kee Mao? The Beef Larb was suprisingly excellent! Large chunks of beef cut like carne asada marinated in their special sauce and served with sticky rice. I pretty much scarfed down that whole order myself. Ask me if I'll come again and I'll say that I'm not quite sure. It was for the most part a pretty "meh" kinda meal. Price point was pretty fair and the atmosphere is inviting. It must have been the young daughter that was at the front counter that asked me if I ordered all that food with a weird look on her face. I promptly replied that I had an eating disorder and please not judge me. She continued to look at me mystified.... Lol, kids. Happy Eating Everyone!

We love this place! My partner and I moved to Gresham from downtown Portland and worried there wouldn't be good Thai food nearby. We quickly fell in love with Vi Thai! Everything I've ordered from their menu has been completely delicious. My particular favorites include their BBQ pork noodle salad and the garlic chicken with vegetables. but their pho and pad thai really hit the spot too! The service is always wonderful, you couldn't ask for more.

I live in Gresham and drive all over for a good food including the Vietnamese Pho, when made the right way it takes long time to make the base soup stock but lots of places are taking short cuts cutting quality and still wanting to make more money for less. Today's date is May 9th, 2014 and someone mentioned there is a place they thought it was great, it really was not! I know how much it costs to make a salad roll and a bowl of pho with all the trimmings, I've known the owner of one of the most famous Pho restaurant on SE 82nd Ave for over 20 years, even at today's costs of labor and materials, a soup commonly known as a "Super-Bowl" with 8oz of meats costs less than $2.00, and 4 pieces of ( 2 inches-thick ) wrapped shrimp and pork salad roll costs less than $1.00 so even at 6 pieces it costs less than $1.50. All other Vietnamese restaurants charge about $4 for 4 rolls, this place charges $8 for 6??? Their version of the Super Bowl which is #14 is a very short version if at best, there is only about 4oz of meat at best including 1/4 in x 1/4 inch - paper thin piece of a very cheap cut of meat called brisket which costs less than $2 a pound, instead of spending hours making the beef soup base they are using hot water infused with beef fat for the beefy taste. I've only ate here once and I will never eat at this place again, it's a very poor quality at a premium price, just because they are the only Pho restaurant within 8 to 9 miles radius they are gouging they're prices with lesser quality of food, I gave them 2 stars not for their food but for fairly good service and cleanly atmosphere. There is but few Pho restaurants I will eat at - Vi Vi in Hillsboro, Pho Oregon across from Madison High School on 82nd, and can't forget all 3 Pho Hung restaurants on 82nd and on Powell Blvd and in Beaverton, and Zien Hong Restaurant on Sandy blvd, and Pho Ngoi next to Fu Bon on 82nd. ( Pho Ngoi has changed hands and the quality had dropped to the floor, I ate and gotten sick really bad, if I did not have Hep B shots previously I might have died from their food, I've gotten more shots of Hep B vaccine to keep my body from getting sick again ) I've eaten at all Vietnamese restaurants including one in Sandy Oregon, this place is the worst tasting, cheap quality and portions too, but I did like the slice of lemon in their water cups. The right way to make a proper pho is to make a concentrated beef soup stock for flavor usually using beef - soup bones, ox tails and beef feet boiled for approximately 6 hours or more and is diluted with clean boiling water, this is one of the reasons why most try to take short cuts than doing it right, I hope this helps those Non-Asians who does not know what they are eating and commenting on!!!

Good customer service, but the food is just okay to me. I still go there occasionally because it convenient, but there are at least three other Thai restaurants on the east side that I prefer over this one.

This place is just down the street, it is clean, never crowded, freindly and quick wait staff. I have not tried the pho here I normally order from the thai menu. It is always tasty and a good portion. The food is good, nice place, freindly staff, I will be back again sometime.

I had lunch with a friend and ordered the general tso's chicken. I did not like it and placed the plate on the table next to me, because we there on business. When the young waitress came back she asked about my meal, I pointed to the plate and said it was not good and she then told me to bad, you should of told me earlier and she did not take it off my bill. I said are you sure you want to do this? I will never eat here again and will tell everyone, cheap advertising to keep me happy. She said nope. Don't eat here, very rude and food sucks. Thanks Yelp for giving me a voice finally on this place.

It's always good to know that you can get your choice of Vietnamese or Thai at one place. The staff is friendly and the food is good. They usually start you off with a little bowl of soup. Try the pho and the salad rolls.....very tasty. Great place for lunch!!!

  • Megan S.

My family and I come here often. they are clean, friendly, provide good service and the food is good. Ive tried many things on their menu. Some items are way over priced for their size, like their BBQ pork. The family and I go for the pad thai, pad see ew, spring rolls, salad rolls. pad woon sen and basil fried rice. Their pho is very inconsistent. Ive had bad and good pho here. Would not say its the best nor the worst. Also their curry smells wonderful but have never tried it.

  • Michael G.

While the service was very nice and fast, my food was a curious Vietnamese interpretation of Khao Soi, which more resembled a somewhat bland Bun of some sort. The grilled pork on top was tasty, but in no way made up for the fried noodles which weren't there. My dining-companion's dish wasn't bad, but it wasn't enough to make the overall experience one I'd repeat. It's possible I missed some gems on the menu, but it was a disappointing first experience.

It took us a while to finally try this place, but boy, am glad we finally did. This place is never crowded, so we order take out and its ready in no time. Great portions for the price, and excellent flavor on both the Pad Thai and all the Curries. Just be sure you like it hot if you order a 4 or 5 on the hot scale!

Honestly HORRIBLE pho. They do not even have tendon or tripe and the broth is completely flavorless.. The worst place for pho.. I recommend going down Sandy or 82nd there are lots of places for great pho there.. The one OK thing about Vi Thai is their salad rolls they taste pretty good and you get alot for your money. But all around not worth it going there.

  • Catie L.

Always a treat, Vi Thai is one of my favorite places to go for Thai cuisine. Their serving staff could be a little less timid in nature, but since they are eager to please it helps overshadow it. As for the food, you can't go wrong with their Pad Thai, and their salad rolls are always fresh. I've gone many times and frequently enjoyed their "Swimming Angels", which includes veggies and your choice of protein in a delicious peanut curry sauce over rice. I must also add that their pineapple fried rice, or yellow curry are pretty tasty as well. I could keep raving about it, but I'd rather have you find out for yourself the joy of great Thai for a great price.

It is a wonderful thing to have a place where I can get a great bowl of beel pho near to home. Nice family restaurant, warm hospitality.

The pho has improved 10fold. Great surprise for certain. It's tasty, hot, and reasonable. It rivals any of the place so frequent DT or 82. Good job!!

This is the last chance I am giving them. Ever since the new owner changed the recipes, the food has lacked flavor. I have gone back about 5 times and tried different things since the recipes have changed. Never again. It's sad because I really loved their food.

I sad!

BE WARNED!

So I went back a few months after, it was still good! Yay!!! If you plan your trip well: go snowboard/ski until you almost drop, then go eat pho here. YOU WILL GO HOME HAPPY. :)

  • Amber L.

    (1)

BE WARNED!

This place is just down the street, it is clean, never crowded, freindly and quick wait staff. I have not tried the pho here I normally order from the thai menu. It is always tasty and a good portion. The food is good, nice place, freindly staff, I will be back again sometime.

Good Pho. On the way to Bend. We usually have to go in town, but were pleasantly surprised by this place. Very large servings and great flavor. Don't understand the other review - pho had tendon and great broth.

  • nancy m.

  • Ashley T.

You absolutely have to try out Vi Thai. The food is out of this world. Always fresh and delicious. The staff is so nice and polite. So glad to have a good Thai restaurant in the area now.

Good job!!
